Why Hand Nail?

After spending 10+ years working with a major insurance carrier inspecting roofs, I have seen up close the results of different ways of attaching the shingles to the roof deck. The far superior way was the hand nail method. Every shingle needs to be nailed at the proper place or nail line. Often the area is only about one half of an inch where the nail needs to pass through the shingle to secure it correctly. Proper nailing also better protects the roof in high winds and storms.
Hand nailing is, in my opinion, more accurate and better for the installation. Gun nails or coil nails are the second best as long as the nails are placed in the proper areas, not overdriven or installed at an angle. Using staples is less desirable as there are twice as many punctures and no capping effect-like results in using hand or coil nails.
Proper supervision and training is tantamount in getting a roof installed properly. We offer personal supervision, consultation, and assistance with every project. For more information please see photos of our completed projects.
